Metallic Lattices
All metals are solid at room temperature with the exception of mercury. Metals consist of a giant lattice of positive ions surrounded by a shared pool of delocalised electrons.
Metallic bonding is the strong electrostatic attraction between the cations (positive ions) and delocalised electrons.
