Exam Style Question - 5
Question: For the reaction 2Fe3+(aq) + 2I-(aq) → 2Fe2+(aq) + I2(aq), identify the species oxidised, the species reduced, the oxidising agent and the reducing agent.
Iron changes from +3 in Fe3+ to +2 in Fe2+. Its oxidation state decreases, so Fe3+ is reduced. The half-equation is Fe3+ + e- → Fe2+.
