Alternative fuels are needed to preserve fossil fuel resources and to reduce global warming and climate change. Renewable fuels such as biofuels are being developed as well as solar, wind, wave, tide and geothermal energy.A fuel is carbon neutral if the amount of carbon dioxide released during its combustion is the same as the amount absorbed during its synthesis.Biodiesel is made from vegetable oils whilst bioethanol (the most common bioalcohol) is made by fermenting sugars using yeast or bacteria.
