The lack of reactivity makes polymers useful for storage and packaging, but many polymers are non-biodegradable. The environmental impact can be reduced by recycling polymers, using waste polymers as fuel or making biodegradable or photodegradable polymers.Feedstock recycling reclaims monomers, gases or oil from waste polymers without having to wash or sort the polymers.Bioplastics can be produced from starch, cellulose, plant oils and proteins.
