Fairground Ride
The vehicle on a fairground ride on a downward track is initially at rest at the top of the track with zero kinetic energy. As it falls it gains speed as the gravitational potential energy is converted to kinetic energy. The loss of gravitational potential energy = mgΔh where Δh is the height drop.
