An object's gravitational force (its weight) acts through a point called its centre of gravity.
The centre of gravity acts at the same point as the centre of mass.
The centre of mass is a point where an object's weight appears to act.
A freely suspended object will come to rest with its centre of gravity vertically below the point of suspension.
