Amines are used in the manufacture of medicines, dyes and plastics (polymers). Examples of polymers are nylon and polyurethane.Quaternary ammonium compounds are used in the manufacture of hair and fabric conditioners. The long hydrocarbon chain and positively charged organic nitrogen are attracted to the wet surface forming a coating that prevents the build up of static electricity.Sulfanilamide is an antibiotic which prevents bacteria from making folic acid from paraaminobenzoic acid (PABA). Humans get folic acid from food.
