Saturated Hydrocarbons
A saturated hydrocarbon contains single bonds only. Every carbon atom is bonded to the maximum possible number of hydrogen atoms.
The alkanes are saturated hydrocarbons with the general formula CnH2n+2, for example ethane C2H6. Cycloalkanes such as cyclohexane C6H12 are also saturated.
